Queensland Brides Autumn 2012
Queensland Brides interviews real bride Jessica Hadju on her real life romance and gorgeous wedding highlighting imagism photography by Paul Cincotta.
Following a romantic proposal as part of a surprise weekend away to Hamilton Island, Dwayne Smith whisked his sweetheart Jessica Hadju back to paradise to say `I do'.With their black and white dress code, the bridal party created a chic contrast to the tropical backdrop and the Ketch and Cutter rooms of the Hamilton Island Yacht Club were elegantly prepped by I Do Events with a Champagne fountain and photo booth to get the fun started.A dove release in memory of the bride's much-loved Nan and a fireworks display during the cake cutting — a surprise organised by Jessica's parents — topped off an unforgettable celebration
Dwayne surprised me with a weekend on Hamilton Island — he often does amazing things like this, so it didn't ring any alarm bells. He had already asked my parents for my hand in marriage, using his car as dowry (a family joke). On the island Dwayne booked a seven-course dinner at the Beach Club Restaurant and by the time we finished our sixth course we were ready to explode so the waiter asked if we would like to take some time out. We went for a walk and sat down just footsteps from the beach, All this time I didn't suspect anything.
Dwayne asked me if we were to have a child, which would I rather first, a girl or a boy? I said I would rather have a boy first to which he replied "I would too because I saw the look in your father's eyes when I asked him for your hand in marriage." Then he got down on one knee, pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I immediately said yes and cried as he put the ring on my finger ...when I saw it was 'my ring', the ring I'd wished for since I was 17, I couldn't contain myself. Everything about that night was perfect, and for years to come we will be going back to re-live the experience.
